COMMERCIAL SATELLITE LICENSING INFORMATION AVAILABLE ON LINE,
NOAA ANNOUNCES
April 29, 1999 Licensing information
on commercial remote sensing satellite systems, which take images
of Earth from space, is now available on line from NOAA,
the agency announced today.
"Licensing of Commercial Remote Sensing Satellite Systems"
contains a wealth of information such as U.S. laws, regulations,
policies, and related information on the operation of commercial
remote sensing satellite systems. The site describes the process
for obtaining a commercial remote sensing license, the Commercial
Space Act of 1998, NOAA staff contacts, and a list of companies
that have been granted licenses. Links to these companies and
other licensing-related agencies are provided.
"The information is useful
for companies interested in obtaining a license, reporters who
write about these systems, and to anyone interested in Earth
science," said Timothy Stryker, the Webmaster who maintains
the site.
