FREEDOM WALK VOICE MESSAGE TO DOC EMPLOYEES

Aug. 30, 2005 — This is Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, and I have a message for every Commerce employee in the Washington, D.C. area.

I'm asking you to join me and thousands of our fellow Americans on Sunday, September 11th as we stand up for our men and women in uniform.

Thousands of our service members are defending freedom around the world. They need to know that we're behind them. You can send that message of support through the America Supports You Freedom Walk. We'll be traveling from the Pentagon to the National Mall.

The Freedom Walk has two main objectives. We'll remember the victims of September 11th, and we'll show support for the men and women serving in our armed forces.

But to join us, you must register online by Friday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at AmericaSupportsYou.mil.

I strongly encourage all Commerce employees to join together in support of our country and the brave men and women who defend it. Thank you.
