The Marine Protected Areas Federal Advisory Committee, which advises the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of the Interior, will hold its 12th meeting Nov.18-20, 2008, at the Monterey Plaza Hotel in Monterey, Calif. The meeting agenda is available on the MPA Web site.

Two public comment periods are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 4:15-5:00 p.m., and Thursday, Nov. 20, from 8:35-9:30 a.m. Presentations and subcommittee meetings are scheduled on all three days.

The meeting will focus on the potential for coordination among ocean observing systems and the national system of MPAs, and on the consideration of draft recommendations by the two Subcommittees (Scientific and Technical Subcommittee and the Review and Evaluation Subcommittee).
